What do you remember about the city of Thessalonica and the Thessalonian church?

This is a FIRST-GENERATION CHURCH.

“What happens to us if we die before Jesus returns?”

“What happens when Jesus’ followers die?”

1. It’s NOT OVER for them.

2. They get to see Jesus FIRST.

3. Dead or alive, all Christ-followers will MEET JESUS IN THE AIR.

4. All believers FROM EVERY GENERATION will be with the Lord forever!

What will Jesus’ second coming be like?

- Jesus will come SUDDENLY and UNEXPECTEDLY.
- Jesus’ coming will be UNWELCOME to some.
- Jesus’ coming will be UNPLEASANT to some.
- The consequences of Jesus’ coming will be INESCAPABLE.

How can we be ready for it?

- SALVATION FIRST. Make sure your faith is in JESUS!
- READINESS SECOND.
- Don’t get caught “asleep” (spiritually unprepared)
- Be “alert” (watchful, spiritually focused on God’s Kingdom work)

How can we be ready for it?

- Be “self-controlled” (sober, calm)
- Put on FAITH and LOVE as a breastplate
- Put on the HOPE OF SALVATION as a helmet

A healthy perspective on Jesus’ return does not need Jesus to return soon,
but would be delighted if He did.
