In this passage of God’s Word, we see Jesus using a couple of different Old Testament examples of gentiles, who come to faith, in order to correct the current unbelieving generation. We can learn from His teaching here so we don’t stray off course, like the people who Jesus was teaching did.
What can lead us astray:
1. Getting distracted by the peripherals
Luke 11:27-28, 2 Tim. 2:15-16, 4:7, Ps. 119:5
2. Disunity
1 Cor. 1:10, 2 Cor. 13:11, 1 Pet. 3:8, Phil. 1:27, 2:2, Col. 3:14,
Ps. 133:1, Rom. 12:4-5, 14:19, John 17:23, Rom. 14:19
3. Putting our preferences about God’s will
Luke 11:29, 22:44, Matt. 6:33, 19-21
4. Forgetting our purpose
Matt. 22:36-40, 28:16-20
