- built up - to build upon (the idea is of a superstructure that supports)
- established - confirm with security.
- abounding - over and above in quantity and quality, to be in excess.
- thanksgiving - expression of gratitude to God.

vs 8 - beware - look with discerning sight.
- cheat - carry off as spoil (the spoil is the riches of Christ).
- philosophy - friend of wisdom (religious sounding speculations).
- empty - unaccompanied by demonstration of spirit and power.
- deceit - deceptive involvement of sin.

- tradition - things handed down from one to another whether divine or human.
- basic principles - elemental components (of the world).

- world - orderly management by system (compare vs. 5).
- not according - not moving down from a higher place to a lower place.

9 - fullness - that which is filled (in bodily form).
10 - complete - that which fills.
