The Paradox of Power
Daniel Im
August 21/22, 2021
When you have power:

1. Stop hyping
- Jesus never bought into the hype
- who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be exploited. Philippians 2:6 (CSB)
- Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. And he said to him, “I will give you all these things if you will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus told him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him." Matthew 4:8-10 (CSB)
2. Stop hiding

- Jesus didn't hide behind power
- who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be exploited. Instead he emptied himself by assuming the form of a servant, taking on the likeness of humanity. Philippians 2:6-7a (CSB)
- For he is our peace, who made both groups one and tore down the dividing wall of hostility. Ephesians 2:14 (CSB)
3. Stop hoarding
- Jesus didn't exploit power by hoarding it
- who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be exploited. Philippians 2:6 (CSB)
- Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. Everyone should look not to his own interests, but rather to the interests of others. Philippians 2:3-4 (CSB)
