The foundation stone of all society is the family. Before there was a community, school, or government, God created the family. As believers in Jesus Christ, we also have a spiritual family. We call it our forever family.
In our families, we discover our identity; the most influential voice in the life of a child is its family. (Parents, Grandparents, Siblings) Identity is the well from which we draw our self-worth.
In our families, we define our values. Our identity determines how we treat ourselves. Our values determine how we treat the world and everyone in it.
Family matters because our values become the foundation stones upon which we build our lives and society.
In our natural families, we learn to value or devalue:
God/Church
Family
People/Born & Unborn
Love/Respect/Relationships
Honesty/Integrity
Work Ethic
Money Management/Financial Prosperity
Education/Career
Cleanliness/Order
In our spiritual family, we learn to value or devalue:
God - Father, Son & Holy Spirit
Word of God
Prayer
Worship
Evangelism
Discipleship
Ministry
People - believers / non-believers
Family matters because our identity and values are forged in the fire of family life. We have to fight for and guard our families against the schemes of the enemy. (Serpents)
