No one sets out to be grumpy, but we all know Christians who over time become cranky and irritable. In this passage of God’s Word, we see a woman named Martha, who starts off well, but quickly starts to struggle with her attitude. Jesus gently corrects her by teaching her what is truly important. From Martha’s account we learn:
When we get too focused on getting things done for God it can cause us to:
1. Be crabby, irritable, and aggravated at others
2. Make bad assumptions about God
3. Tell God what to do
Instead, we ought to remember:
1. Our inherent worth to God
Gen. 1:27, Ps. 139:13-16, Rom. 5:8, Eph. 2:4-9, Matt. 6:25-34
2. What God is capable of
Rev. 1:8, Heb. 1:3, Matt. 19:26, Is. 26:4, 1 Pet. 5:6-7
3. That it is God working through His relationship with us that accomplishes His good and perfect will
Gal. 2:20, Phil. 2:12-13, 1 Sam 15:22, Neh. 8:10, Eph. 2:10, John 15
