SEE THE DIFFERENCE: SOMETIMES WE GET IT RIGHT

SEE THE DIFFERENCE: SOMETIMES WE GET IT RIGHT

What is the proof that God loves you? Isn’t the proof that He sent Jesus to die in your place? God’s love is shown through action. We aren’t supposed to be a static collector of this love, but an active sharer. 1 John 3:13-22 helps us see that receiving love helps us to share love.

1 John 3:13-22

I. What? (vv. 13-16)
• Don’t be surprised by rejection
• Receive God’s love and share it with others
II. How? (vv. 17-18)
• Meet the practical needs of other followers of Jesus

Examples: benevolence fund; deacon projects; Dare to Care offering; food pantry (give and volunteer); rides/chores; encouraging cards/calls/texts; sharing opportunities; church partnership with an inner city congregation; Connect Group project
III. Why? (vv. 19-22)
• We gain assurance that we have experienced God’s love when we share it with others

• Our assurance of God’s love encourages us that God will continue to care for us
Bottom Line: If we have truly received God’s love, we will truly share God’s love
