How to help…
Begins with YOU
1. Humility to know what we can do and what God can do. (hint...we can do very little if anything!)
2. Asking why we want to help.
a. Control
b. Less awkward around them
3. Commitment to persevere
2 He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor had respect for people. 3 In that city there was a widow who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Grant me justice against my opponent.’ 4 For a while he refused; but later he said to himself, ‘Though I have no fear of God and no respect for anyone, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will grant her justice, so that she may not wear me out by continually coming.’ ” 6 And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God grant justice to his chosen ones who cry to him day and night? [Luke 18:2-7]
Will you continue if you look foolish?
Will you continue if it takes too long?
Will you continue if it costs you more than you anticipated?
Willing to accept God’s decision?
CRUCIFORM PRAYER
1. Power to grow in faith (connected to God)
2. Power to understand God’s love along with all the saints (connected to one another)
a. You are valued
So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. [Genesis 1:27]
b. God’s will for you is good.
We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. [Romans 8:28]
BOLDNESS in asking
You do not have, because you do not ask. [James 4:2]
