Series: Contend for the Gospel
Title: Contend for the Faith
Jude 1–4
The gospel of Jesus Christ has been entrusted, once for all, to the saints.

How to Contend for the Gospel:
1. Know the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
2. Know my Identity in Jesus Christ.
3. Know the Necessity of Faith in Jesus Christ.
1. Know the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Knowing the gospel also requires discernment on what the gospel is NOT.

· Be aware of false gospels that have crept into the church.

· Beware the false teachers who have crept into the church.

· Be wary of false motives that have crept into church.
2. Know my Identity in Jesus Christ.

Jude could have identified himself as the brother of Jesus, but instead he identified himself as a slave of Jesus.

A slave of Jesus is:
· Loved by God.

· Called by God.

· Captives to God’s mercy, peace, and love.

· Kept secure in Jesus Christ.
3. Know the Necessity of Faith in Jesus Christ.

Faith in Jesus Christ is necessary to be a child of God, because Jesus is “our only Master and Lord.”

How does a person deny Jesus as Lord?
· Untrue beliefs.

· Ungodly lives.

“Gospel truth must result in gospel action.”
–John Morrison, Jude Study Guide

Contending for the faith is necessary because it is the only way to find mercy, peace, and love in Jesus Christ through the goodness of God.
