- What are the key words or themes that stand out to you in these verses?
- How do you define ‘perseverance?’ According to James, what are the benefits of perseverance?
- How does James describe temptation and sin? Verses 13-15.
- What does this passage tell us about God? Consider verses 17-18.
Interpret-
- Why do you think James would begin his letter with the topics he chooses? What practical topics do you think he would discuss if he were writing today? Would they be the same?
- James discusses the poor and the rich. What does our personal economic status have to do with a growing faith?
- Why do you think James wants to underscore that God is not the one who tempts?
- Do you find these practical words optimistic or pessimistic for your faith development?
