Outrageous Generosity

Locations & Times

South County High School (Entrance 15)

Sunday 10:00 AM

Legacy: Faith, Character, Health, and Wealth.

When have you been the most refreshed?

· Proverbs 11:25 NLT – 25 The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.

Big Idea: When we are generous, we are most like our Savior!

· John 3:16 NIV – 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

· Acts 20:35b NLT – You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

Scripture: 1 Timothy 6:17-19 NLT – 17 Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. 18 Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. 19 By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.

How can we live generously?

· Trust in God – Not your resources

§ 1 Timothy 6:17 NLT – 17 Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.

§ Matthew 7:21 NLT – 21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

· Make a decision to intentionally live open handed

§ Psalm 24:1 NLT – 1 The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.
§ Matthew 7:12 NLT – 12 “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.

§ 1 Timothy 6:18 NLT - 18 Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others.

· Start with the resources you have, not what you dream to have

§ Pastor Hugh Rosenberg - If God can’t give it through you, He won’t give it to you.

§ Proverbs 11:24 NLT – 24 Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything.

· Keep your eyes open for needs and engage as the Spirit leads you

§ Psalms 112:1, 9 NLT – 1 How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying his commands. 9 They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever. They will have influence and honor.

§ Proverbs 22:9 NLT – 9 Blessed are those who are generous, because they feed the poor.

What can generosity look like in your family?

What would happen if we all lived generously?
