Isaiah 5:20

Genesis 1:26-31

What’s so “GOOD” about MEN?
And It Was Good: A Special Father’s Day Message

Text: Genesis 1:26–31; Acts 7:20–36 (NIV)

Genesis 1:26–31 (ESV)
26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
27 So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29 And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. 30 And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so. 31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

Three Foundational Points:

- We Believe the Bible is the Inspired, Infallible word of God
- We Believe God is the creator of all things, and one we all return to God to be Judged
- We Believe God is Good and wants Good for you!

If you want to live the GOOD life you just return to God’s definition of “And It Was Good”

What’s So Good About Men! Godly Men bring order to a godless society
Acts 7:20–36 (NIV)
20 “At that time Moses was born, and he was no ordinary child. For three months he was cared for by his family. 21 When he was placed outside, Pharaoh’s daughter took him and brought him up as her own son. 22 Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in speech and action.

Three forty-year periods in Moses Life.

40 Years in Pharaohs Palace - Moses had the best the world could offer, powerful in speech and wisdom
40 Years in Exile in the Wilderness - Moses being humbled… god getting Moses out of Moses
40 Years leading in the Wilderness - Getting Egypt out of the People

These 3 forty year chapters of Moses life, represent 3 district calls as a man of God in his life. Three calls you will go through yourself…

The First Call - The Call to be drawn out
Moses - “Drawn Out”

discovery of the call

Inside of Every man is a divine call waiting to be called upon

The second call - The Call to be cast out

23 “When Moses was forty years old, he decided to visit his own people, the Israelites. 24 He saw one of them being mistreated by an Egyptian, so he went to his defense and avenged him by killing the Egyptian. 25 Moses thought that his own people would realize that God was using him to rescue them, but they did not. 26 The next day Moses came upon two Israelites who were fighting. He tried to reconcile them by saying, ‘Men, you are brothers; why do you want to hurt each other?’
27 “But the man who was mistreating the other pushed Moses aside and said, ‘Who made you ruler and judge over us? 28 Are you thinking of killing me as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?’ 29 When Moses heard this, he fled to Midian, where he settled as a foreigner and had two sons.

Step 1 - I tell God what I am going to doStep 2 - God respondsStep 3 - I beg God to let me do it anywayStep 4 - He humbles me until I listenStep 5 - God tells me what He is going to doOur agendas (plural), and God’s agenda (singular) only intersect at the cross road of Humility and Obedience The second call - The Call to be cast out

28 Are you thinking of killing me as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?’ 29 When Moses heard this, he fled to Midian, where he settled as a foreigner and had two sons.

development of his character

God Makes Men by taking us through a humbling process that fundamentally changes the way we think
