Chiming of the Hour and Prelude

Welcome to Worship: Rev. Alicia Porterfield
Call to Worship:
Rev. Alicia Porterfield
Rev. Neal Koch

O Lord, You are our stronghold in times of trouble, a safe place for all who are oppressed
And those who know Your name put their trust in You, for You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
Sing praises to the Lord! Declare God’s deeds among the peoples.
And those who know Your name put their trust in You, for You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
The Lord remembers all who suffer; the evil ways of mortals will not prevail, for our God is just.
And those who know Your name put their trust in You, for You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
~adapted from Psalm 9:9-20

Invocation and Lord’s Prayer: Rev. Neal Koch

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Hymn of Praise: “God of Grace and God of Glory”
FAB Choir

God of grace and God of glory, on Thy people pour Thy pow’r. Crown Thine ancient church’s story, bring its bud to glorious flow’r. Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, for the facing of this hour, for the facing of this hour.

Lo! the hosts of evil round us scorn thy Christ, assail his ways! From the fears that long have bound us, free our hearts to work and praise.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, for the living of these days, for the living of these days.

Set our feet on lofty places; gird our lives that they may be, armored with all Christ-like graces in the fight to set men free. Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, that we fail not man nor Thee, that we fail not man nor Thee.

Our Future: Susan Porter

Hymn of Thanksgiving: “Salvation is Here”
Salem Carlton

God above all the world in motion. God above all my hopes and fears.
I don't care what the world throws at me now, it's gonna be alright.

Hear the sound of the generations making loud our freedom song,
all in all that the world would know Your name, it's gonna be alright.
'Cause I know my God saved the day, and I know His word never fails,
and I know my God made a way for me.
Salvation is here. (Repeat vs. 1, chorus)

Salvation is here, salvation is here and He lives in me.
Salvation is here, salvation that died just to set me free.
Salvation is here, salvation is here and He lives in me, salvation is here
Cause You are alive and You live in me.
Salvation is here, salvation is here and He lives in me.
Salvation is here, salvation that died just to set me free.
Salvation is here, salvation is here and He lives in me, salvation is here. Chorus

Prayer of Thanksgiving: Jay Porter

Doxology (singing, please stand)
Praise God from whom all blessings flow,
Praise Him all creatures here below,
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host,
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Music of Thanksgiving: “Awake, Awake to Love and Work”
FAB Choir
Awake, awake to love and work! The lark is in the sky;
The fields are wet with diamond dew;
The worlds awake to cry their blessings on the Lord of life, as He goes meekly by.

Come, let thy voice be one with theirs, Shout with their shout of praise; See how the giant sun soars up, Great lord of years and days!
So let the love of Jesus come And set thy soul ablaze.

To give and give, and give again, What God hath given thee; To spend thyself nor count the cost; To serve right gloriously The God who gave all worlds that are, And all that are to be.

Sermon: "Living Grace"
Rev. Alicia Porterfield
Hymn of Response: "Amazing Grace"

Amazing grace! how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch; like me! I once was lost, but now am found, was blind, but now I see.

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved. How precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed!

Thro’ many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come. ‘Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun, we’ve no less days to sing God’s praise than when we first begun.

Benediction: Rev. Alicia Porterfield

Postlude: Jon Brannon, organ

Who We Are

"The church on the corner with the big columns" is who some say we are. While blessed with a building, the life of our church expands beyond these six columns.
We are a family of faith striving to love God and love others, acknowledging the greatest commandments as defined by our Lord. These are the foundation for our existence; and everything we do, whether inside or outside these columns, must reflect love of our God and love for others.
The four inner columns represent the four primary areas of the life of our church: Inreach, Outreach, Spiritual Growth, and Missions. To learn more, visit our site.
