A healthy culture is not a reflection of your people, it’s a reflection of heaven.

As a Pastor/High level leader, you are the CCO: Chief Culture Officer

Every church has a culture. You are either intentionally creating culture or unintentionally creating a subculture.
QUESTION: How strong is your culture?
Ask 3 leaders

Culture is NOT
- Style
- Feel
- Atmosphere
- Systems
If you can’t articulate your culture, you can’t replicate It.
If you mimic someone else’s culture, it’s no longer culture, it’s a style.
Culture is created by celebration and toleration.
- Toleration creates subculture
- Subculture lives in the leadership gap

Culture is protected by being built.

- We don’t protect culture, we build it.
- Unhealthy people always say what culture is not, and can never tell what culture is.
- Healthy culture rejects unhealthy subculture.
Heart is automatic

Creating Culture

Our Culture is made up of four elements: + OUR VISION + OUR VALUES + OUR UNIQUE CHARACTERISTICS + OUR STANDARDS OF LEADERSHIP
https://www.mercyculture.com/culture
Vision:
What you bleed when you're cut open
Values:
Your driving behaviors
Who you are at your best
Our Value of Heath:
LEADERS GO FIRST
We remain healthy by prioritizing personal encounters with God, pursuing purity, putting family first, and protecting our sabbath so we can lead others in health.
-
What you’re least interested in, you need the most.
How do we recognize we’re not healthy?
1. Not having fun.
2. Tired after you've rested. (It’s not a tired problem, it’s a health problem.)
3. You’ve lost your Daily Encounter. (Where you’re not a pastor, it’s just you and God.)
4. You're disobedient in keeping the sabbath.
Our Value of Trust:
LEAN INTO AWKWARD
We build the trust, character and relationships of tomorrow by engaging in the tough conversations today.
-
When you feel awkward, that feeling is the indication to lean in.
Some people resist or fear confrontation. Lean into awkward embraces it.
Our Value of Empowerment:
OUR HEART, YOUR MIND
We empower those with our heart to lead with their mind. We trade empowerment for teachability and humility.
-
We decided that we’d risk greatness for the guarantee of mediocrity.
Our job is to train leaders to lead through the values.
Unique Characteristics:
The “Why”
Standards of Leadership:
Determines who we empower
How do we take culture from mind to heart?

1. Pulpit
2. MC Connect
3. Meetings
4. Walls
5. Social Media
