Last Sunday we talked extensively about the importance of our spiritual leaders pointing us to Scripture. A great resource for understanding why we can trust the Bible is an article called "How accurate is the Bible" by Ken Boa. Clink the link in the next section at the end of the sermon notes.

This week we begin a new series called "Consecrate: Preparing our Hearts for God to Move." To consecrate means to remove oneself from anything unclean.

1) Recognize God's holiness.

2) Recognize God's mercy, love and compassion.

The greatest example of God's mercy, love and compassion is found in the story of the prodigal son from Luke 15:11-32.

The ceremony from which the father rescued the prodigal son was called "kezazah," which means "cut off." The father ran to get to the son before he had to face kezazah and potentially be cut off from his family and community.

God runs ahead of us to rescue us from the judgment we deserve!
