What makes a resilient disciple?

The Pharisees:

• Obsessed with the look of living for God, but their hearts were far from God.

How a person is saved from their sins and brought into a relationship with God was constantly being questioned.
Who is God and what is He like?
To the Pharisees: God is a person they needed to please with their traditions. The only way to be in relationship with God is to completely fulfill their traditions.
To Jesus: God is a gracious Father willing to forgive sinners, and the only way to be in relationship with Him is through the person and work of Jesus.

A Very Wise Woman: This woman did not have any of the religious qualifications the Pharisees did and she still gets it right.
Having faith is coming to our God, believing that He is who He says He is, and believing that He will do what He says He will do.
A Resilient Disciple places their trust in Jesus (faith) as the basis for their relationship with God. Their trust is only in Jesus and what He did for them on the cross.
The Pharisees felt you needed to behave in a godly way and that is what saves you.
A Resilient Disciple knows that God’s grace saves you and moved by that love and grace you live a holy life.
