Main idea: Biblical discipleship means believing in Christ, belonging to His church, and becoming more like Him every day.

Discipleship – a working definition:

“Discipleship is the process of becoming more like Christ in character and behavior as we live out our faith in community.”


1. Discipleship means BELIEVING.

2. Discipleship means BELONGING

1. “Will there ever be lasting world peace?”
2. “How can I be a better person?”
3. “What does the future hold for my family and me?”
4. “Will there ever be a cure for all diseases?”
5. “Why is there suffering in the world?”

· Who is Christ Jesus?
· What does He want from me?

Christ calls us to a deeper belief that says, “I’ll believe…and I’ll follow.”
· John 3:16 For God … whoever believes in him!
· John 1:12 But as many as receive him… even to those who believe on his name!
· Acts 16:31 Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.
· John 6:47 He who believes has eternal life.

2. Discipleship means BELONGING

Ephesians 4: 1-16– Unity in the Spirit …Oneness.
12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
