John 18:36-38a
36Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”37“You are a king, then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” 38“What is truth?” retorted Pilate.
RELATIVISM = No absolute truth

* “It’s fine if it works for you”
* “Don’t impose your values on me”
* “Truth is what I choose it to be”
John 14:6a
6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life.
WHERE DOES FAITH FIT IN?

Hebrews 11:1

Hebrews 11:1 (NASB 77)
11Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Romans 8:24 (NASB 77)
24For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one also hope for what he sees?
Hebrews 11:13 (NASB 77)
13All these died in faith, without receiving the promises, but having seen them and having welcomed them from a distance, and having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.
Romans 8:25 (NASB 77)
25But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.
FAITH is not one-dimensional, but is MULTI-DIMENSIONAL. There are PAST, PRESENT, and FUTURE aspects of both.
PAST

1 Corinthians 15:1–8 (NASB ’77)
1Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, 2by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. 3For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; 7then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; 8and last of all, as it were to one untimely born, He appeared to me also.
PRESENT

I Corinthians 1:18 (NASB 77)
18For the word of the cross is to those who are perishing foolishness, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
FUTURE

I Peter 1:3-5 (NASB 77)
3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
Biblical faith is based on EVIDENCE!
Exodus 3:13-14 (NASB 77)
13Then Moses said to God, “Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I shall say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you.’ Now they may say to me, ‘What is His name?’ What shall I say to them?" 14And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.'"
Exodus 3:15 (NASB 77)
15And God, furthermore, said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations.
Acts 1:2b–3 (NASB ’77)
2…He had by the Holy Spirit given orders to the apostles whom He had chosen. 3 To these He also presented Himself alive, after His suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days, and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God.
Biblical Faith . . .
* Has PAST, PRESENT, & FUTURE aspects
* Is trust in God for the PRESENT and the FUTURE based on His covenantal faithfulness in the PAST

Hebrews 11:6
