Description: Jesus' teaching about marriage cuts against the grain. It did in His day as well as in our own. Marriage is more than just two people choosing to share a home. It's a man and woman whose commitment to one another has a glorious purpose to reveal something about the
character and nature of God to the world. Jesus says that far beyond simply a human arrangement, God's design for marriage is that it welds two people together with the binding power of Godly love; the same committed love God has shown for us in the mighty saving work of
Jesus Christ Himself. When that love is on display in us, it has the power to change the world.
1. We should not engage the teachings of Jesus unless we are ready to accept them
2. God's design is WELDED marriages

Hard-heartedness is not the absence of feelings. It's the refusal to feel at all. And that is what kills marriages.

GOD'S DESIGN FOR MARRIAGE IS A LIFE-LONG WELDING OF ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN INTO ONE FLESH
The clear teaching of Jesus is that God views marriage as a lifelong commitment that should not be broken.
3. Jesus people live for God's Kingdom in married or single life
When you define your happiness in relation to another person it will fail but if you find joy in the pursuit of Jesus, you will know a mighty love.
4. Christ-centered marriages are committed not casual
How to make decisions about marriage and divorce:
A. Compassion should be our guide
B. Counsel is vital
C. Commitment to reconcile and restore should be the goal

5. Where do we go from here? Receive, Redeem, Resolve.
o Receive God's grace for the past
o Redeem the present
o Resolve for the future
6. Marriage serves a glorious purpose
One Big Thing: Jesus people are committed to God's Kingdom because He has committed to us
