Dangerous Prayers - "Build Me"

Luke 17:5-10

Is faith a force? A power? A gift?

Romans 12:3 NKJV
For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

You have been given a measure of faith
Faith is like a muscle - you have to use it.

Ephesians 2-8 NKJV
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

Jesus's response to their question was in verse 6
“If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

Mark 11:12-24 NKJV
12 Now the next day, when they had come out from Bethany, He was hungry. 13 And seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it. When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. 14 In response Jesus said to it, “Let no one eat fruit from you ever again.”
And His disciples heard it.
15 So they came to Jerusalem. Then Jesus went into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 16 And He would not allow anyone to carry wares through the temple. 17 Then He taught, saying to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’ ”
18 And the scribes and chief priests heard it and sought how they might destroy Him; for they feared Him, because all the people were astonished at His teaching. 19 When evening had come, He went out of the city.
20 Now in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. 21 And Peter, remembering, said to Him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away.”
22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

Hebrews 11:6 NKJV
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Learning on the job is how the disciples were taught

Speak to the mountain - This is part of the doing
Romans 10:17 NKJV
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Then there is the speaking out
2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJV
For we walk by faith, not by sight.

We are God's building
1 Peter 2:5 NKJV
You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

So what material is God using?
1 Corinthians 1:26-31 NKJV
26 For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. 27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; 28 and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, 29 that no flesh should glory in His presence. 30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption— 31 that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.”

Not many mighty - Not many noble
God is using material that are broken - not the best material
He takes broken lives and makes them new

Praise Your name

Even now, I can see darkness is fading
Walls of fear, brick by brick will come down
Your light will shine, lifting me out of the shadows
Here and now, I know where my breakthrough is found

I'm gonna sing my way out of the valley
I'm gonna shout my way up to the mountain
I will take hold of the truth of Your promise

Fear and depression, Shame and confusion
