Door Number One, Door Number Two…

“Don’t act so surprised at all this. The time is coming when everyone dead and buried will hear His voice. Those who have lived the right way will walk out into a resurrection Life; those who have lived the wrong way, into a
resurrection Judgment.” John 5:28-29
A. We all have been given a choice…
Jesus says: “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Matthew 7:13-14
Door Number 1 or Door Number 2
1. Is a narrow door. Is a wide door.
(A not as popular choice) (A very popular choice)
2. Has a small pathway Has a broad pathway
with few entering, with many entering.
3. Leads to life. Leads to death.
B. We all have been given the answer…
Jesus says: “I am the gate; whoever enters through Me will be saved. He will come in and go out and find pasture.” John 10:9
Door Number 1 or Door Number 2
1. Is the way to Jesus. May seem like the way
to Jesus.
2. Is the way to be saved. Is the way to be lost.
3. Is the way to full life. Is the way to empty pleasure.
4. Is the way to Is the way to self-serving.
self-sacrificing.
C. We all must choose...
Jesus says: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6
Door Number 1 or Door Number 2
1. Is the only way to Is one of many ways to
truth and life = to eternal death =
Heaven Hell
2. Is the way to find Is one of many good works
grace. that you can accomplish.
3. Is found by faith. Is found by a way that
seems right to man.
D. The doors are always before us…
“There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death.” Proverbs 14:2
1. Spirit vs Sinful Nature
“Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will
always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their
own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful
nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest
everlasting life from the Spirit.” Galatians 6:7-8
2. Jesus First vs All Else
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.” Matthew 6:33
3. Hard Way vs Pleasurable Way
“He chose to share the oppression of God’s people instead of enjoying the fleeting pleasures of sin.” Hebrews 11:25
4. Resisting vs Giving In
“The temptations in your life are no different from what others
experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be
more than you can stand. When you are tempted, He will show you a
way out so that you can endure.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
5. Give Thanks vs Grumbling
“Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18
6. Content vs Money
“Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, ‘I will never fail you.I will never abandon you.’” Hebrews 13:5
7. Beneficial to Others vs My Way
“You say, ‘I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. You say, ‘I am allowed to do anything’—but not everything is beneficial.” 1 Corinthians 10:23
8. Peace vs Turmoil
“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You, all whose thoughts are fixed on You!” Isaiah 26:3
9. Believe vs Doubt
“And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6
10. Wait on God vs DIY
“Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for Him to act.” Psalm 37:7a
11. Faith vs Sight
“For we live by believing and not by seeing.” 2 Corinthians 5:7
12. Prayer vs Worry
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.” Philippians 4:6
13. Represent Jesus vs Self
“And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.” Colossians 3:17
14. Better vs Good
“but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42
“But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve.” Joshua 24:15a
E. How do we open the door? From the inside!
1. Step One: A – Admit that I am a sinner.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
2. Step Two: B – Believe that Jesus died for my sin.
“For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, ‘Anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame.’” Romans 10:10-11
3. Step Three: C – Confess my sin.
“That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
4. Step Four: D– Decide to receive Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.
“Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12
5. Step Five: Begin a life of choices!
“But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15c
