Intro: A Mom’s Reminder

Setting Context – The City of Corinth

· The city of Corinth had a REPUTATION

· The people in Corinth used relationships as means to their own SELF-CENTERED

· They needed to see JESUS CHRIST, not only as their model of what it was to love others…

o But to TRANSFORM them into people that would genuinely, self sacrificially & actually love others.

· They thought they knew what love was…

o but it had NOTHING to do with Jesus Christ.

· We must have our hearts REALIGNED to what loving others really is all about…

o & then to realize that it is a LIFELONG realignment.

Without Love, NOTHING vs 1-3

· Danger of the Familiar: There are two different ways for us to look at this list

o What do we need to DO? Or
o What has Jesus DONE?

· What has Jesus done that will transform me to have that kind of heart of love for others?

· Your heart, my heart needs to be taught to REVERT back to the gospel

· It is impossible to do what God says without the NEW HEART God gives
· It is Impossible to genuinely love without being changed at the heart by the GENUINE LOVE of Christ.

Love is… vs 4-8

· Love is patient – vs 4


· Love is Kind - vs 4


· Love does not Envy or BOAST – vs 4


· Love is not Arrogant or Rude - vs 4-5


· Love does not INSIST on its Own Way – vs 5


· Love is not Irritable or Resentful – vs 5


· Love does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but REJOICES with the truth – vs 6


· Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. - vs 7



· Love Never ENDS – vs 8
