What is LoveKey Church All About?

Our name comes from the fact that we believe that the KEY to salvation (giving your life to Jesus, becoming a reborn Christian) is the revelation of how much God LOVES you. And the KEY to living the life He has for us is to LOVE him back. That’s why LoveKey Church is a local expression of a part of the body of Christ with a focus on creating a place, opportunity and atmosphere where all people can encounter God, align with His purposes in order to reign in life, and help others to do the same.
ENCOUNTER, ALIGN REIGN, HELP OTHERS DO THE SAME - easy way to remember it.
We believe the Bible is the word of God and we commit to be obedient to it with the leading of the Holy Spirit
We believe that marriage and family is God’s idea and His way of doing it is the right way and the best way. We want to see marriages thrive and families be healthy in Jesus. Because healthy families build a healthy nation - notice I didn’t say “perfect” families, I said healthy - whole in Jesus, reconciled in Jesus, redeemed by Jesus, focused on Jesus.
We stand for unity in the body of Christ - we can be diverse but not divided, and celebrate our different gifts and roles in the greater body of Christ. We really resonate with Jesus’ prayer in John 17 where he asks that the Father will make us all one as He and the Father are one so that the world will know that He sent Him. Our biggest evangelical tool is unity!
We want to help eradicate fatherlessness and shine a light on the crisis of cultural Christianity - South Africa has a physical fatherlessness rate of 62% and other forms of fatherlessness in the remaining percentage - it truly is a huge problem.
Cultural Christianity is where people grow up in a so-called Christian home or culture and believe that that makes them a Christian, when in fact it is very possible that the culture they’re in has adopted a version of God that is convenient, made it apart of their culture and they’re actually worshipping their culture.
We want this to be a multi-generational, multi-cultural church that lives to know Jesus and to make Him known.

Series: FOUNDATIONS

SERIES: ALIGNING WITH GOD
SUB SERIES: FOUNDATIONS
MESSAGE: SOS
MAIN MESSAGE: SALVATION - TITLE: “SOS”

True repentance should lead to true salvation.
But what is salvation?

Definitions / Synonyms:
According to Wikipedia (nogals) In Christianity salvation (also called deliverance or redemption) is the "saving [of] human beings from sin and its consequences, which include death and separation from God" by Christ's death and resurrection, and the justification following this salvation
Salvation (from Latin: salvatio, from salva, 'safe, saved') is the state of being saved or protected from harm or a dire situation. In religion and theology, salvation generally refers to the deliverance of the soul from sin and its consequences. (Wikipedia)

Other Ways to describe it: Delivered, redeemed, set free, cleansed, made new, life instead of death
Brand new creation - original design - before the foundations of the earth - Gen 1, Eph 1, Ps 139
Saved from sin and its consequences, to be reconciled with God, in relationship with Him to spend eternity with Him, and experience something of heaven nowhere on earth
Saved from not being in a relationship with our heavenly Father, to be in relationship with our Father, our creator.
Not just avoiding hell, it’s stepping into a loving, intimate, personal relationship with the one who formed you, knitted you together, wrote a scroll for your life, who sings over you, rejoices over you, smiles over you, who never leaves you, forsakes you or will let you be put to shame. (all scripture)

Yeshua, Joshua, Jesus meaning: (LOOK AT SCREEN)
The name Jesus is derived from the Hebrew name Yeshua/Y'shua, which is based on the Semitic root y-š-ʕ (Hebrew: ישע‎), meaning "to deliver; to rescue."
Yeshua: It means "Yahweh [the Lord] is Salvation." The English spelling of Yeshua is “Joshua.” However, when translated from Hebrew into Greek, in which the New Testament was written, the name Yeshua becomes Iēsous. The English spelling for Iēsous is “Jesus.” ... The names for him all mean 'the Lord is Salvation.
The very meaning of our saviour’s name is saviour
Christ means the anointed one.
Messiah means the promised one, or the one anointed with oil
So he is the one anointed to save

Let me repeat it one more time: We need to recognize that we’re all sinners in need of a saviour.
We need to acknowledge how bad our situation is, how dire and serious it is being sinners who will face God’s righteous wrath - if we don’t, we will not see the need for salvation, therefore we won’t see the need for a saviour, let alone THE saviour Jesus Christ
If you’re in a situation where you don’t realize your life is in danger and someone comes along and tells you, “Hey! Don’t worry, I’m here to save you!” you will answer, “What do you mean? I’m fine. Go away.”
Imagine someone floating on a tube on a calm river, drinking a glass of wine, sunglasses on, tanning, just chilling, but moments away there’s a raging waterfall, massive rocks at the bottom - the person’s life is in danger and they don’t know it - will you run, scream, shout, “Hey! You’re in trouble!” And maybe they ignore you - what do you know, right?
{Quick question, when we meet people who don’t know Jesus, do we feel the urgency to tell them there’s a saviour who can save them? }
When we have the revelation and if we do realize, admit and acknowledge that we are sinners heading for an eternity apart from God, and therefore need a saviour, and then humbly surrender to God and accept Jesus as our saviour, then things can change to the exact total opposite and suddenly all the promises scripture gives of our inheritance as children of God kicks in.
Repentance is the first step as we clearly saw from scripture last week.
Before repentance and the choice to accept Jesus as our saviour and make Him Lord of our lives, we were doomed to a life without God, apart from Him. There is no way to sort of or almost get a little bit of God’s promises and blessings held only for those who choose Him. This is very important to realize.
Good people don’t go to heaven, believers go to heaven - remember?
This is why one of our aims is to shine a light on cultural Christianity - because it can cause people to think they’re heading for heaven when they’re not. But more on that when we talk about Lordship and baptism…
NB: You cannot get saved on your own terms - you didn’t create the world and set its order, God did. You are not Jesus, Jesus is Jesus. Yeshua is Yeshua
He has a kingdom that is not of this world, and it’s important to note that it is a kingdom, not a democracy.
So you don’t have a say in how things are done. You can have a relationship with the king as your father, but he is in charge. And before you step into relationship, before you are saved, you can only access this ultimate, intimate relationship with the one who spoke galaxies into being while at the same time had his son born in a manger, if you surrender your terms, your ideas, your plans, your will and humbly submit to His glorious ways.
Here’s a thought - when you send your child to a school, or when you start work at a new company, or when you join a sport club - you sign a document where you say you recognize the rules, the system of that place, and that you commit to adhere to them, even if you may not agree with all of them, and you also agree that you may be punished, or receive a penalty when you break the rules. Right? Agreed? Have you ever taken one of those documents and started redacting some part of it, scratched out whole clauses and wrote in some of your own and then handed it back to the people running the place and they just said - ok cool, ja sure, no problem? Has that ever happened?
Then why do we think we can do that to God and His word?
How can we let our strong feelings of who we think we are and how we want to live be more important than the word of the one who saved us from certain spiritual death?
It’s a Kingdom with a King. And he says we should count the cost before we decide to accept his salvation, because we’re either all in, or we’re not.
You need to die to be saved. The old man dies with Christ and the new creation is raised with Christ. The old man includes your culture you were born in, your personality, your habits, your likes your dislikes, your dreams etc. All those things need to die and let God bring back to life in the new creation that which he deems good and should stay apart of who you are. Let the rest stay dead, and if they pop up, deal with it by reminding your body and your soul you’re a new creation in Christ.
Being saved by Jesus may not mean feeling saved in this world {Joseph with Potifar’s wife: he fled from sin and was saved from the penalty of sexual immorality, but he was still imprisoned - so he was free before God even though man had locked him up - this can be the same in our case, and the reverse can also be true - we can be celebrated by people because in their eyes we’re seemingly successful and doing well, but before God we are not free but bound by sin and it’s consequences because we haven’t surrendered to God and accepted his salvation.} / Acts 5:40-42 - 'And they agreed with him, and when they had called for the apostles and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.’

NOTES:

NEW CREATION:
What does this mean?
I believe it is a supernatural transformation that takes place in our spirit man when we repent and get saved.
In Genesis we see God first created man in his image and then he formed him from the dust.
Eph 1 tells us we were called and chosen to be holy and blameless before the foundations of the earth - before we were formed.
Ps 139 tells us how we are fearfully and wonderfully made, knitted together in our mother’s womb and have a scroll already written over our lives.
When we are born into this broken world in our sinful nature, we are body and soul and our spirit is a shadow of what it should be.
When we get an opportunity to encounter the living God and are introduced to the gospel good news of what our state is without him but that his Son Jesus came to die in our place for sin, we are presented with an opportunity to become our true selves in spirit as God intended for us to be even before the world was made.
So when we get saved, that new creation that comes to life, is our original design spirit that springs to life.
And now our soul and body need to play catchup and that is where the journey of sanctification starts that we are going to get into more as we journey through this foundations series.
REFLECT AND RESPOND.
Sons and daughters of the living God, our loving Father, and joint-heirs of Jesus Christ, please take a moment to reflect and respond to these words and verses. Let the Holy Spirit minister to you
If you realise today that you are not actually saved, I want to give you an opportunity to choose life today. If that’s you, put up your hand or comment with a hand emoji on the livestream and pray with me
Prayer…
If you feel lead by God to repent from anything, do it, be set free
If you need prayer please come to the front or find us wherever we are and ask
But referring back to Hebr 13 - can you see that the same power of the blood of Jesus that raised Christ from the dead, is the power that saves you and me? So then you can know, there’s no greater power, and you are saved if you have chosen Him with all that you are.

Thank you so much for joining us today.
