To choose the road that leads to life is to first choose to love the Lord your God.
V.16, …and to keep his commands, decrees, and regulations…
John 14:21 (NLT), Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.”
V. 16b, If you do this, you will live and multiply, and the Lord your God will bless you and the land you are about to enter and occupy.
V. 15,Today I am giving you a choice between life and death…
V. 17a, “But if your heart turns away…
V. 17b, …and you refuse to listen…
v.17c, ...and if you are drawn away to serve and worship other gods…
V. 18, … then I warn you now that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live a long, good life in the land you are crossing the Jordan to occupy.
Sometimes the things we think will lead to the good life, really lead to death instead.
Proverbs 14:12 (NET)There is a way that seems right to a person, but its end is the way that leads to death.
V. 19, “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make.
V. 19b,Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!
