Worship. Everybody knows what that is, don’t they? Maybe, maybe not. Today’s sermon is the third of three messages based on Acts 2:42-47 that describes church LIFE—then and now—and describes the essence of biblical worship.
Acts 2:42-47 NIV
4 Characteristics of Dynamic Church Life:
1. Devotion to sound doctrine (42a).
2. Devotion to fellowship (42b, 44-46).
3. Devotion to ___________ (42c).
Two indications of a worshipping church:
1. Regularly remembering Jesus’ sacrifice through ________________________________ (42c)
Luke 22:7-20
a. Communion looks back to the Crucifixion, like Passover looked back to the Exodus (7-13).
b. Communion looks forward to ultimate fulfillment in God’s kingdom (14-18).
c. The bread symbolizes Jesus’ broken body that saves us (19).
d. The cup symbolizes Jesus’ blood that establishes the New Covenant (20).
e. Communion reinforces the unity believers have with Christ and each other (1 Cor. 11:17-34).
