“CONTEND FOR THE FAITH”
(Jude/2 Peter 2:1-3)

Romans 1:24-25. . .Therefore, God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever.

Jude v.1-4. . .Jude, a bond servant of Jesus Christ, and a brother of James, to those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ: 2 mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. 3 Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. 4 For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.

I. Beware of Wolves in Sheep Clothing
Jude v. 4. . .For certain men have crept in unnoticed
2 Peter 2:1. . .But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring indestructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.
2 Timothy 4:1-2. . .Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron.
Acts 20:26-31. . .Therefore, I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. 27 For I have no shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God. 28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. 29 For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves 31 Therefore, watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.

Beware of Wolves in Sheep Clothing!
II. Beware of Words which have Severe Consequences
Jude v. 16-19. . .These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage. 17 But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ: 18 how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts. 19 There are worldly persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit.
Proverbs 16:27-29. . .An ungodly man digs up evil, and it is on his lips like burning fire. 28 A perverse man sows strife, and a whisperer separates the best of friends. 29 A violent man entices his neighbor, and leads him in a way that is not good.

Example: The Church Growth Movement (Seeker-sensitive).
2 Timothy 4:3-5. . .For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables, 5 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

What do we find ourselves contending for?
· Our rights more than His righteousness
· Our feelings more than His faithfulness
· Our wants more than His Will
· Our comfort more than His Commission
· Our self-opinions more than His revealed Scripture
How do I contend for the Faith?

1. Must be born again.
John 3:3. . .Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless on is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
2. Believe that which delivered to you.
John 3:18. . .He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
3. Abide in the Word
1 John 2:24-25. . .Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. 25 And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life.
4. Allow the Spirit transform your mind
Romans 12:1-2…I beseech you therefore, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

We as Ezekiel was instructed to be a watchmen (shepherd) of the flock of God. And to continue to plant the good seed of the kingdom of God.
