We learn to monitor our behavior but do little to monitor our heart
Guilt: The emotion associated with acknowledging when we've done something wrong
Guilt defines part of who we are (not in a good way)
Guilt causes us to suppress what we have done wrong
Guilt throws us off balance and is thus in charge of us
Guilt creates a debt-debtor relationship
We don't experience guilt as debt but as a weight that throws us off balance
Unresolved guilt evolves into anger
Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation...
Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
The law of sin and death: When you sin you are stuck
Romans 8:3 For what the law was powerless to do.........
The Law reminds us we are guilty
Jesus took on himself the condemnation associated with our sin
We are guilty but not condemned
We forfeit the right to condemn ourselves because we are not ours to condemn
You’re not your own - you were bought at a price (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
Our guilt can remind us but not define us
Our past reminds us to look to God in gratitude
We forfeit the right to condemn or judge others because that would make us a hypocrite
We are free to make restitution without expectations and excuses
Is it possible somebody is waiting for you to make the first move?
We fear the consequences of confession more than the consequences of concealment
“My past will remind me but it will not define me."
