Discussion Questions:
Do you remember when you first started following Jesus? Did you share your faith with friends or family at the time? What was their response? Do you still have that same passion to share Jesus with people around you? Why or why not?
Do you enjoy hosting people at your home or in your life? Why or why not? Inviting people into your life can be a great inconvenience and time consuming. How do we balance evangelism with growing in our own faith? Who invited you into their life and shared their faith with you?
Do you identify with the scribes and Pharisees? Do you ever think grace is unfair? How would you feel if someone you dislike was given preferential treatment? How does gratitude play a role in our feelings toward others receiving grace?
Do you see yourself as a missionary? What parts of culture can you infiltrate? Why is it easier to send missionaries instead of being a missionary? When is the last time you shared your faith? Have you been rejected for sharing your faith?
Family time: Ask your children to help you with a chore around the house they do not like to do. Inevitably they will probably whine and complain. Ask them what punishment they deserve for whining and complaining. Let them know they probably do deserve that punishment but instead you are going to take them for ice cream. That is grace. We deserve death because of our sin but we have eternal life through Jesus Christ. Grace is an undeserved gift.
