"Can I Lose My Salvation?"

The key to understanding these verses is the emphasis on the gospel Paul preached to them. The issue here seems to be that some were believing in a "gospel" that didn't include the resurrection of Jesus. To believe in something other than the true gospel is to believe in vain (verse 2).

1) They received the gospel.

2) They stood on the gospel.

3) They were being sanctified.

In short the answer to the question, "Can I lose my salvation?" is no. But we can convince ourselves that we have a relationship with Christ when we really don't. Those who have received the gospel, stand on it and see the evidence of God changing their hearts can be confident that they haven't believed in vain.
