1. How does God speak to us?
· God primarily uses His Word to communicate directly to us.

+ Salvation
+ Progressive Sanctification
+ Service

· God speaks to us through the works and words of Jesus.

· God speaks through the created universe.

· God uses other believers to communicate to us.
Church leaders:

+ Vigorous proclamation of God’s Word (“preach”)
+ Exposing sin (“rebuke”)
+ Addressing error (“correct”)
+ Facilitating growth (“encourage”)

Good friends:

- “True friends put enough trust in you to tell you openly of your faults. Give me for a friend the man who will speak honestly to me before my face; who will not tell first one neighbor, and then another, but who will come straight to my house, and say, “Sir, I feel there is such-and-such a thing in you, which, as my brother, I must tell you of.” That man is a true friend; he has proved himself to be so… a man will sometimes thank you for it, but he does not often like you any better.” – Charles Spurgeon

· God often uses circumstances to direct us.

· God uses His Spirit to direct us.

· God uses prayer in the process of communicating with us.

How May I Become A Good Listener

· Trust God that he knows what is best. When He speaks, act in faith.
· Deny self and trust in God’s omniscience.
· Determine to please God by walking in agreement with His Word.
- Remain humble. Don’t buy the lie that self-sufficiency is a solid option

- Be awed by one (“fear the Lord” Prov. 3:7)
- Avoid evil (Prov. 3:7)
