What has love compelled you to do in your life?
Big Idea: Jesus is the true King over everyone and everything.
· Philippians 2:9-11 NIV – 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Why should we let the love of Christ reign in our hearts?
· The love of Jesus trumps all others!
o Ephesians 3:18-19 NLT – 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
o 1 John 4:8 NLT – God is love!
· The love of Jesus sacrificed everything for us.
o Romans 5:8 NLT – 8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
o Luke 9:23 NLT – If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.
· The love of Jesus overcame death and the grave so we could have eternal life.
o Romans 6:23 NIV – 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
o John 3:16 NIV – 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
How do we let the love of Christ reign in our hearts?
· Submit to the Lordship of Jesus
· Live like Jesus
o Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV – 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
· Show others the way to Him
o Matthew 5:14 NIV – You are the light of the world – like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.
o Romans 10:9 NIV – 9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
