Friday 12:00 PM

In this passage of God’s Word we see Jesus marveling at a Roman Centurion’s faith. By taking a close look at this story we can why Jesus marveled at this man’s faith, and how too can have this type of faith.

Recognize:

1. Your own depravity
Rom. 3:23-24, 5:12, 6:23, Ecc. 7:20, Jer. 17:9, Ps. 51:5

2. God’s goodness
Gal. 2:20, 1 John 1:19, John 3:16

3. What God is capable of
Eph. 3:20, Ex. 15:6, 2 Cor 9:8

4. God’s will above your own
Luke 7:7, Matt. 6:1-10, 26:42, Zech. 1:6
Reflection Questions

1. The Centurion did a good job at recognizing his own sinfulness, while still acknowledging that God is good and faithful towards us. How well do you do with holding those two aspects in tension? Do you tend to acknowledge one above the other?

2. Part of the Centurion’s faith was the fact that he was able to recognize that Jesus was able to heal his servant. Do you ever struggle to realize that God is able to do anything in your life? Do you ever struggle with boxing God in a corner?

3. The Centurion put Jesus’ will above his own. Do ever struggle with putting your will’s below God’s? If so, how? Are there any common aspects of your life that you struggle with doing that? How could you do that better? Who can hold you accountable to that?

Thank you for your continual faithfulness and flexibility during these times. We especially appreciate those 8+ years old wearing their mask when not seated 6+ feet away from those outside of their household. Please remember, no offering plates will be passed; instead we ask you to give online or via the giving box near the gym entrance. Tables are set up in the back row of the gym for families with young children. We also kindly ask you to use the restroom before you come to ensure that our restrooms are as clean as possible for those who need to use them.
