I am excited to share a little insight on Easter and how it continues to change the world one life at a time. We can find the account in the Bible at Matthew 28:1-10, it says: “Early on Sunday morning, as the new day was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to visit the tomb.”

I love how the Bible shows the friendship of Mary and Mary, they were there for each other not just when things were easy and good but also when times were tough. They had experienced so much including the love of Jesus that motivated them to do the right thing even in hard times. The ladies allowed the Sabbath to come and go as the sun was rising to start a new week it was the time to bring spices and oil to anoint Jesus at the tomb.

The Bible continues “Suddenly there was a great earthquake! For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it. His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow. The guards shook with fear when they saw him, and they fell into a dead faint.“ Beyond any expectations or things imaginable. I want to keep saying “WOW” as I read the scripture but I can’t give the experience justice and the day has just begun with so much more to come before noon.

Matthew continues “Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember what I have told you.”

We can forget how powerful God is, in an upside-down world where things are dark and broken God is the only one who can bring light and life and turn everything right side up in His gift to us in Jesus Christ. I love what it says next: “The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were very frightened but also filled with great joy, and they rushed to give the disciples the angel’s message.”

Mary and Mary during the excitement and adrenaline pumping they felt fear of the unknown and joy from a relationship with Jesus. The ladies knew they had a mission and the actions changed from spices and oils to sharing life-changing news Jesus is alive. I know for myself that sometimes I can know what I am supposed to do but I get distracted or the plans change but I believe it always right to do the next thing God wants me to do or I will miss out on something great. Mary and Mary kept going and it says: “And as they went, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they ran to him, grasped his feet, and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t be afraid! Go tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there.”

We celebrate Easter because it is as true then as it is now. Jesus came from heaven to a broken world and showed the ultimate love to conquer sin and death for all mankind. No matter where you were born or the color of your skin Jesus wants to meet you just as he did with Mary and Mary we do not need to be afraid, just be faithful to what Jesus desire us to live our lives and we will see him again not just for a brief moment but for eternity. I encourage you to make today a life-changing day by putting your faith in and following Jesus.
