• For the unsaved spouse, the best advertisement for the wonder of the gospel is a spouse who daily models the Christ-life.

• A quiet spirit means to bring a calming presence, when others prefer war.

• The gospel - if lived out - transforms marriages.

• To honor means to value and to give tribute.

• Christian marriage is to be an earthly picture of the heavenly reality that Jesus will one day be united with His Church in the most holy of matrimonies.

• Christian marriage must be based on a mutual love that treats the partner with respect and honor.

1. What did you find hardest about 1 Peter 3:1-7?

2. Discuss the control battle that takes place in most marriages. How does this chapter help with that struggle?

3. If you are a wife, is there any way that you can, or need to, encourage your husband and affirm his leadership?

4. If you are a husband, is there any way in which you might be failing to live with your wife in an understanding way, or to honor her, or champion her gifts?
