Heed the parable told to the elders and chief priest
For this parable is for those who don’t think themselves the least
This is a story of a landowner and His Vineyard
And a landowner who sent the one true shepherd

The vineyard was made because that is what the landowner wanted
And with his right hand alone was how it was planted.
He planted a vineyard with a land that was bare.
A vineyard that required great cost and great care.

And in the midst of a world that grows thorns and briars
In a world that is trampled by thieves and liars
He alone planted His vineyard with the choicest vine
The noblest vine that would produce the sweetest wine.

He didn’t leave His vineyard unprotected
Nor was his vineyard ever neglected
Instead he dug a wine-press and built a tower.
A place of burnt offerings to remember God’s awesome power

So he rented out His Vineyard to a group of farmers
He tasked these husbandman to be his partners
And off went the landowner on a journey
They all assumed it was to some far away country

No longer did He speak to them like in the days of Mount Sinai
No longer did they care about the God they would defy.
For those were the days when they trembled hearing God’s voice.
And they cried out instead for Moses as their choice.

And the day finally came for the harvest to be gathered
For it was always the landowner who was the one that had labored.
But when His servants came to gather their master’s produce
All the farmers offered in return was death and abuse.

So the landowner sent more servants to the farmers
But their unrepented hearts only hardened these idolaters
And Finally, The landowner sent his own Son.
This is the Savior, the redeemer, the mighty one.

But when the vine-growers saw that the Son had been sent.
There was no repentance on their part, no heart filled with lament
They thought they could remake the Kingdom of Heaven
They thought they could make God in the image of men

So they conspired to kill the Son and make Him suffer
And to think their plan only took 30 pieces of silver
So they had the Son publicly killed and put on display
To pay a debt that we can never repay.

For on that cross He drank the cup of wrath
So that by grace, through faith, we may have a path
To the One True God who is our strength and fortress
So that we may have the Holy Spirit who intercedes for us

For the stone which the builders rejected
Became the chief cornerstone-the Son of God, Beloved.
The landowner will take back his vineyard from the husbandman
And give the Kingdom of God to those who make Jesus there only provision

And it is by faith that is received upon hearing the Word
So that we may come to have a relationship with the One True Lord
For in order to be welcomed by the One who sits on the throne
We must receive a heart of flesh that has replaced our heart of stone.
