“Where do I find my worth?”
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
If Jesus is where I get my self-worth, why don’t I live like it?
Three Areas the World Looks at For Our Self-Worth:
1. Wealth
Then, turning to his disciples, Jesus said, ”That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing. Look at the ravens. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds!” Luke 12:22 - 24
“No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.” Luke 16:13
2. Weight
What does God look at when He sees the physical you?
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7
3. What Others Think
Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us.” Genesis 1:26a
God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. Ephesians 1:5
I am sure that nothing can separate us from God’s love — not life or death, not angels or spirits, not the present or the future, and not powers above or powers below. … Nothing in all creation can separate us from God’s love for us in Christ Jesus our Lord! Romans 8:38 - 39
Where do I find my worth?
It’s not my wealth, my weight or what others think.
It is in Jesus.
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32
I am Loved (Colossians 3:12)
I am Forgiven (Ephesians 1:7)
I am Chosen (1 Peter 2:9)
I am a New Creation (2 Corinthians 5:17)
I am Not Condemned (Romans 8:1)
I am More than a Conqueror (Romans 8:37)
I am God’s Workmanship (Ephesians 2:10)
I am a Work in Progress (Philippians 1:6)
I am Provided For (Philippians 4:19)
I am Victorious! (1 Corinthians 15:57)
Who am I in Christ?
“I am who God says I am!”
