Why is the world so sad?

Why is the world so sad?

Quick – why did Jesus come to earth? A common response probably has something to do with Him dying for sins. Why, then, does Jesus say, "I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God…I was sent for this purpose"? What is this good news? this kingdom? And what does it have to do with Jesus dying on a cross and coming back to life 3 days later? Turns out, God's kingdom is full of surprises. And yet, for careful readers of the Bible, these are actually truths we might have expected – truths like "brokenness is the path to true freedom" or "accepting messiness brings deep contentment." As we explore just a few of the many surprising expectations of this kingdom, we'll discover, too, the surprising power it offers to live well in our current reality.

Next Week's Sermon

It's been said that Christianity is only one generation away from extinction and looking at the world today can create fear that it may be coming to pass! Do we fear for the future of the faith? This sort of fear can drive us to unhealthy places, so we'll soak in Jesus' perspective on the kingdom's future.
