Upside Down - A Kingdom Perspective
Week 1
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:9 - 10
In God’s Kingdom, OTHERS ARE FIRST
“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 7:12
GOLDEN RULE – Do to others what you would have them do to you
THREE WAYS TO LIVE THIS OUT
1. ENCOURAGE OTHERS FIRST
All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great blessing was upon them all. There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need. Acts 4:32 - 34
For instance, there was Joseph, the one the apostles nicknamed Barnabas (which means ‘Son of Encouragement’). He was from the tribe of Levi and came from the island of Cyprus. He sold a field he owned and brought the money to the apostles. Acts 4:36 - 37
2. SERVE OTHERS FIRST
So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him. John 13:4 - 5
“Since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.” John 13:14 - 15
3. HONOR OTHERS FIRST
Honor one another above yourselves. Romans 12:10
“Do unto others what you would have them do to you.” Matthew 7:12a
