(We Need To Take Our Sin Seriously)

Exodus 13:3-10

I THE FEAST OF UNLEAVENED BREAD WAS DESIGNED TO TEACH THAT THERE ARE SOME THINGS THAT JUST DON’T BELONG IN OUR LIVES AS BELIEVERS

A. Passover was the first day of a seven day Feast of Unleavened Bread

B. But Passover was followed by 6 other days that focused on the fact that God’s kind of freedom required His people to remove things from their lives and homes

C. Yeast was used by God to symbolize the Power of Sin

II WHY WOULD GOD USE “YEAST” TO SYMBOLIZE SIN IN OUR LIVES?

A. Yeast makes bread “taste GOOD”

B. It doesn’t take much yeast to CHANGE the shape of the dough

C. Yeast makes the bread look like it contains MORE flour

D. Yeast causes bread to MOLD and DECAY from the inside out

III THE YEAST OF UNLEAVENED BREAD COMMUNICATES A VALUE (REMOVING SIN) THAT APPLIES BOTH TO OUR LIVES INDIVIDUALLY AND TO OUR FAMILIES

A. Every Christian is called to examine their own lives personally

B. How do we keep ungodly influences out of our home’s?

C. Parents are the “gatekeepers”

IV THE REMOVAL OF SIN IS NOT WHAT MAKES YOU FREE – ONLY THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST CAN SET YOU FREE

A. The Passover meal symbolized their freedom

B. They removed the sin because God had already set them free

C. God freed them because the blood of the lamb had been applied
