DIGGING DEEPER

The following discussion questions are used in LifeGroups. If you're not in a LifeGroup yet, find a good group and sign up using the link above!
Has God ever told you to leave or go somewhere that didn’t make any sense to you at the time?
When God told Philip to leave Samaria to head toward Gaza on a desert road, did God tell him why (v. 26)? Did God tell Philip what to expect when he went? What do you think Philip was feeling/doing as he obeyed God and traveled on that desert road?
Describe Philip’s conversation with the Ethiopian eunuch (v. 30-35). What was Philip’s demeanor? Was he combative, defensive, aggressive, etc.?
What does this teach us about how we should interact with unbelievers (see also 1 Peter 3:15 and 2 Corinthians 10:1)?
How does this correspond to the way Jesus approached us (see also John 3:16-17)?
When Philip had an opportunity to tell the Ethiopian about Jesus, what did he do (v. 35a)? What was Philip’s focus (v. 35b)?
How do you know when you should tell others about Jesus? How do you know what to say in those circumstances (Luke 12:11-12)?
What role do you think your actions and behavior should play in telling others about Jesus? Why are both actions and words generally necessary when sharing the gospel?
Compare Jesus’s interaction with the woman at the well in Samaria (John 4:4-30) to Philip’s interaction with the Ethiopian eunuch. What do these events teach us about the character of God?
