In this series Genesis: The story of creation, sin and redemption we have examined God’s creation and his original plan for his perfect creation. Sin has now entered into the world as those first humans, who were created in the likeness and the image of the creator, chose to disobey as they were tempted and deceived by Satan, the serpent.
Due to this sin, Adam and Eve are now full of shame and in verse 8 it tells us that they hid themselves from the presence of God. Something we need to know. We cannot hide from God.
Psalm 139:7-8 says, “Where shall I go from your spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
Ephesians 2:1-10
Romans 5:8

John Bloom said, “Revel in these two priceless words. Everything, sweet and bitter, that will occur between now and the moment of your death God will work for your good (Romans 8:28), and every glorious pleasure that you will ever enjoy in your future eternal life in his presence (Psalm 16:11) is because of the gospel of these two words: “but God.”
How do you need to respond to the call of God today?

There are countless ways that we can answer and respond to God. What will be your response today?
John 3:16-17
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Leonard Sweet
“The very first question in the Bible? Not ours, but God’s. Adam, where are you? Afraid of being found? Let God find you. Let God love you.
Practically speaking – Are we trying to cover up our sins?
God sees. God knows. God searches.
Jeremiah 17:10 says, “I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.”

The prayer of David in Psalm 139:23-24 says,
“23 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
When we sin, we need to confess it immediately, repent, and get back on track of pursuing holiness.
1 John 1:9, ESV: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Have you put your faith in Christ? Have you asked him to be the LORD, Saviour and Master of your life?

Psalm 51:10-12 is another of David’s prayer. Pray this right now.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right[a] spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.

Isaiah 61:10 – I will greatly rejoice in the LORD; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness.

Colossians 3:1-10
“The reason I don’t want to sin, and I sin, but the reason I don’t want to sin, the reason I avoid sin and with God’s help abstain from sin is not because I am fearful of what God would do to me, but I am fearful of what God may not do through me”
One leads to joy and abundance of life. It leads to peace and fulfillment. The other leads to guilt, shame and fear and ultimately as scripture teaches, leads to destruction.
What type of life do you want?
Revelation 22:14 says, “Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they man have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
Our sin separates us from God. We have to realize the destructive nature of living a life of sin. Just as in the Biblical story today, God wants to restore that relationship and begin to use you in an amazing way.
Jesus Christ is the only way to this restoration. John 14:6 says, “I (talking about Jesus) am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. We can’t get their own our own good deeds. We can’t get there by passing our sin onto to others. We can’t get there by knowing enough. Adam and Eve are great examples of this.
We can only experience forgiveness, salvation, grace, love and redemption because of the person of Jesus Christ.
Do you want to begin to experience those in your life? Put your faith in Jesus today. Confess your sin. Ask him to forgive you. Confess that He is lord and believe in with all of your heart. He will save you from death and separation.
