Welcome to South and this Live YouVersion Event. We are in a series entitled "Refocus - The Book of Ephesians" - we hope that you will enjoy the notes and Scriptures below, to supplement Pastor Scott's message!
Be imitators of God

We need to walk in love, as dearly loved children.
We need to avoid unholiness...

1) Sexual immorality and impurity - 'impurity' refers to immoral thoughts, ideas, fantasies, and lusts. There are many types of immorality. A few are these: Fornication (sexual activity outside of marriage). Adultery (sexual activity with someone other than your spouse). Homosexuality (sexual activity with someone of the same sex). Lust (sexual activity with someone in your mind).
2) Coveteousness - a corruption of love in the life of a child of God’s, by taking their love that should be directed to their father alone, and places it instead on things that God our Father created.
3) Sinful speech - Foolish talk, crude joking.

These things should not be named among us. In other words, we are to avoid in every shape and form, anything that is likely to draw us toward any and all of these forms of unholy love.
But lean into giving thanks...

In our battling and fighting against forms of unholy love, we are not to be morbid and joyless Christians. Paul challenges us that, in the midst of our battling and sacrificing, there should be thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving for who we currently are - a child of God’s and a saint; in contrast to who we were - an enemy of God’s and a sinner. Thanksgiving for a God who loved us, even while we were sinners and enemies of his, and acted on that love by giving us the gracious gift of His Son and salvation. Thanksgiving for the reality that we have been set free from the penalty and power of sin in our lives, and have been given the Holy Spirit of God, who empowers us to say no to forms of unholy love in our lives. Thanksgiving for the knowledge that, even though we may lose a battle or two to unholy love, the ultimate victory has been secured for us by Christ and we will one day experience when we receive our inheritance as one of God’s kids in heaven.

Text Giving

If you would like to set up text giving from your phone, just text any amount to '84321', and you will receive a link that walks you through the setup process. It takes a few minutes to set it up, but then after the initial setup, it will take just a few seconds to give your offering this way. Highly recommend it!
