These 6 empty jars symbolize the emptiness of Jewish ritual when true faith is absent.
The jars help to visualize what Jesus meant when he talked about his relationship to the law: “I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”

This sign was to show the Jews that their religion was empty as the jars were empty and that Jesus was coming to reclaim the world to bring new life to empty jars
Jesus is more than willing to approach ordinary people with their everyday needs and lovingly meet that need by his grace and power.
