So what is Paul's mode of operating? How does he believe this happens? We heard it earlier. By becoming aligned, not just knowledgable, not just empathetic, but in solidarity is how things happen in Paul's mind.
"Accommodating myself to all, so far as I could consistent with truth and sincerity." from John Wesley's Explanatory Notes upon the New Testament.
a. It is not ministry to, for that indicates a handout or a pity situation.
b. It is not ministry for, that set up a hierarchy in power dynamic.
c. It is ministry with, or as Paul says becoming all things to all people so that we might win some. Greg Boyle in his book Tattoos on the Heart calls ministry with - kinship. He describes kinship as standing so close to one another that there is no daylight that comes between. Sandi Richter in her book Epic of Eden describes it as fictive kinship - or treating one another like we are related.
Mother Teresa diagnosed the world's ills in this way: we've "forgotten that we belong to each other."
