When you allow the presence of God to enter your home, your home is blessed. You and your family will be blessed.

What kind of culture or atmosphere are you creating?

The atmosphere of a home can be felt from the moment you walk in. Feels good/bad. Peace/strife - Like a smell in a room - It’s there….you may not know if if you’re in it but it’s there.

The atmosphere you are creating will happen by default or design.
Your home culture is a combination of what you create and what you tolerate.

Part of being intentional in creating an environment for the presence of God is realizing you are a priest. A priests job was to facilitate the presence of God.
Revelation 5:10 - You are a kingdom of priests to God
Priests role:
-Host God in the meeting place
-Help people honor and worship God
-Taught people how to hear God and love his ways
-Help people repent and be forgiven
-Taught people difference between clean and unclean - moral choices
-Taught people scripture and how to understand God’s story
-Priests sanctify themselves for the people.

YOU CAN EITHER BE A THERMOMETER OR A THERMOSTAT
As a priest, you set the atmosphere of your home.
Jefferson Bethke (christian author) wrote — One really big consequence of how we’ve structured western Christianity over the last few hundred years is none of our highest and holiest moments exist in the home. Contrast this with the Jewish faith, every single highest holiest moment in Judaism happens in a home. Around a table. And a story is told. And it’s no coincidence that statistically Jewish people have the absolute strongest family retention rate of their faith (their retention rate is 95-97% while evangelicals is 36%). This is a travesty and enormously affecting how we build our families. Home isn’t sacred. It isn’t a hub of holiness and meaning. It isn’t the place of identity and story that everything should be orbiting around.

Too many people have reserved God and the things of God for Sunday.

How do we do this? - 4 ways to take it to the house

1. Make the Word of God a priority in your home
- The standard by which we live and make decisions.
2.Make Prayer a priority in your home

3.Make Worship a priority in your home

4.Make fellowship with believers a priority in your home
-Life Groups are a great way to facilitate this.
When you use your home as a dwelling place for God…he can’t help but bless it.

Practicing His presence in your home simply means inviting God‘s presence into the mundane moments of life
