Thursday 4:00 PM

Luke 4:14-30

In this passage of God’s Word we see Jesus teaching some people who clearly do not understand His mission. We too can fall into the same trap that these people feel into. By taking a look at this story, we can learn how not to fall into the same trap, and not get Christianity wrong.

1. Don’t make your faith all about yourself
Luke 4:23-24, Phil. 2:3

2. Realize that Jesus came to offer salvation to all
Luke 4:25-27, 2 Pet. 3:9

3. Make your focus the same as Christ's
Luke 4:28-29, Matt. 22:37-40, 28:19-20
Reflection Questions

1. After taking a look at Jesus’ story here in chapter 4 of the Gospel of Luke, what stands out to you the most? Have you ever studied or heard this story taught on before? If you’re familiar with the story, did you notice anything that you haven’t noticed before?

2. What has your prayer life been dominated by in this season of your life? Why do you think that is? How does that reflect how you view God? How does it reflect your relationship with God?

3. It’s evident in what Jesus brings up, that audience was very self-centered in what they wanted Jesus to do. As we talked about the importance of not making our faith self-centered, did anything stick out to you? Did the Lord bring to your mind anything that you can be less self-centered about?

4. As we talked about the distain that the audience would have had for the people that Jesus mentioned here in this story, did the Lord bring to your mind any people, group of people, or individuals that you have a difficult time with? Why do you have such a difficult time with that person/those people? Have you ever considered that God may have placed them in your life so that you can reach out to them and show them the same love, mercy, and grace that He’s shown to you?

5. What practical step(s) can you take better reach out and show God’s love, mercy, and grace to everyone you encounter, especially the people who you have a very difficult time dealing with. Who can keep you accountable to that?

Thank you for your continual faithfulness and flexibility during these times. We especially appreciate those 8+ years old wearing their mask when not seated 6+ feet away from those outside of their household. Please remember, no offering plates will be passed; instead we ask you to give online or via the giving box near the gym entrance. Tables are set up in the back row of the gym for families with young children. We also kindly ask you to use the restroom before you come to ensure that our restrooms are as clean as possible for those who need to use them.
