We Believe! Or do we?
Blessing
Grace-based relationship: Because God extended grace to me, I will give my life to Him.
Performance-based relationship: Because I do good, God will give me blessings.
A performance-based relationship with God would never result in a material blessing!
The word “blessed” speaks of the prosperity of our souls in Christ.
1. Blessings in the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12)
Jesus said nothing about our health, wealth, or comfort.
We should count our standing with God through Jesus as a blessing.
We are blessed as we seek righteousness.
The blessing is about who we become.
2. Blessings through Forgiveness (Romans 4:7-8)
God has removed the guilt associated with your lawlessness.
God covers you with the righteousness of Christ.
We are blessed by the work of Christ on our behalf.
We must move away from equating spiritual blessing with worldly happiness.
