Divided Hearts of America
Expand
The Light & Life Ministry invites you to attend the pro-life documentary Divided Hearts of America on Friday, January 22, at 6:30pm in the First Presbyterian Church Sanctuary. This 90-minute film, produced by football star and pro-life advocate Benjamin Watson and his wife, Kirsten, explores the topic of abortion. Watson frames the film as a “search for truth.” In his talks throughout the U.S., he passionately states, “Our nation is being torn apart; heated debates are raging like a wildfire across this great land. We’re fighting over culture, race, religion, science, social justice, and politics.” Yet he focuses on one issue—abortion—seeking to find how we can be united in a common cause. Plan to join us for this FREE event! Local ministry resource tables will be available 6:00–8:30 pm. A brief discussion with experts will follow the film. Social distancing guidelines will be followed.

Home Group/Study Questions
These questions are provided for your further study and application of today’s sermon. Thoughtfully writing out the answers to these questions will help to drive home the truths we are learning.

1. Was there any passage of scripture or statement in the message today that was particularly meaningful or applicable to you?
2. Read Psalm 119:105-112. What are some of the subtle signs that the Bible is becoming to you just another opinion or suggestion, instead of being treated as the authoritative word of God?
3. Read Psalm 119:41-48. What are some of the specific and practical indicators that someone truly loves God’s word?
4. Read 2 Timothy 3:1-13. What are some of the symptoms our culture currently displays that demonstrate an underlying antagonism towards God’s truth and a departure from the fear of God?
5. Read 2 Timothy 4:3-4 and 1 Thessalonians 2:13. How would you rate your receptivity to forthright and undiluted preaching of the Bible? Why is this kind of preaching unappealing to some, but celebrated by others?
6. What are some of the specific things you can pray for which will help keep our church grounded in God’s word and protected from “wandering off?"
