LIFE CONNECT QUESTIONS
Want to talk it over and connect this message to your everyday life? Good, us too! Change happens when we apply what we learn and share it within community. Answer these questions so you can share with your Connect Group or talk it over with a personal friend.
Faith Acts. Faith always has an action that accompanies it. When we choose to obey God, we establish a solid life built on faith. Obedience isn’t always easy, takes sacrifice at times, doesn’t always make sense, but it always brings peace to our lives. When we focus on obeying, we
can trust God with the outcomes.
CONNECT IN CONVERSATION. [Conversation starters for your group.]
• Are you a “take the risk” or a “play it safe” kind of a person?
• As you were growing up, were you a rule follower or rule bender?
CONNECT TO THE WORD. [Read it and talk it out.]
• Read Matthew 7:24-27. What are some reasons people don’t obey and apply God’s Word?
• Read James 2:18-26. What do you think “dead faith” looks like?
CONNECT WITH OTHERS. [Questions that create openness.]
• Has God ever asked you to take a step in faith that didn’t make a lot of sense at the time? Where you glad you took the step? Tell your group about it.
• What makes obedience to God so challenging at times? How do you overcome that challenge and obey anyways?
• Faith acts in obedience, even when we don’t know the outcome. But have you ever focused too much on the outcome? What was the result?
CONNECT TO LIFE. Which one of the following will you do this week?
• What step of obedience do you need to take this week? Tell a friend or spouse so they can encourage you.
• Have you been trying to control an outcome? Take some time to surrender it to God in prayer.
CONNECT IN PRAYER.
God, You are building our faith. We choose to obey you, even things don’t always seem clear. We know obedience is our response and the outcome is Your responsibility. Help us to trust You. Give us Peace as we walk through uncertain times. May our faith be strong as we act in obedience to Your voice. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
