Friendship Baptist Church
New Year, New You (wk2) • January 10, 2021
Every New Year is a chance to start fresh, every January a clean slate. In the history of the world, perhaps there has never been a year we've been more eager to exit than last year! But if 2021 is going to be a better year, it will not be because things are easier or because we get everything we want. The way to find full life this year is in giving ourselves fully to Christ, community, and mission.

The 3 Before
Expand
The 3 Before is 3 things you need to know:

1. REALM FAMILY INFO UPDATE • We are transitioning to a church software database called Realm, which allows us to keep track of all kinds of important information regarding folks who attend and call Friendship home. In order to help better serve you, and to help us connect with one another better, would you help us update you and your family's information? For the next several weeks, we will distribute Family Info Update cards for you to fill out for us. You can also complete the form online at www.friendshipwired.com. Thanks for your help in this!

2. NEW TO FRIENDSHIP LUNCH • If you are newer to Friendship, or would like to know more about who we are or how you can be involved, our New to Friendship lunch is for you. Our next lunch takes place at Pastor Andrew's house on Jan. 24th. Find out more and sign up at www.friendshipwired.com.

3. DRESS FOR A MESS PAINT PARTY • This is a Friendship Kids event for kids of all ages on Saturday, January 30th at 10am. To learn more and to sign up, go to www.friendshipwired.com.

Week 2: God Wants to Use Y'all

This series is about living in our new identity (the "new you").

We will find full life in 2021 as we give ourselves fully to Christ, community, and mission.
Defining community: a group of people who share something in common

A simple, helpful word: TOGETHER
Community is never found, only built.
The point of Mark 6:30-44:
Jesus is powerful!
He can do a lot with your little.
But He will include YOU.
The "You" here is not an individual, but a group of men who shared something in common: JESUS.
An overlooked reality of the New Testament...
-The majority of the New Testament is comprised of letters written to a community of people
-Often addressed to "you," which could be translated as "y'all"
Bottom Line:
Community may be organized or organic, but it’s always built.
A few ways to build community:
•Get around Jesus & His people
•Come early, stay after
•Initiate, don't wait
